1. Does the CareSens meter require coding?

Unlike older meters the CareSens meter does not require a code chip or number to be entered. This function is completed automatically.

2. When I look at the lancing Pen it does not appear to be working

The lancet moves quicker than the eye can see so when using the lancet to only way to ascertain whether the system is working is to cock the lancet, put to your finger and press the launch button. 3. I've inserted a test strip, but the meter doesn't turn on.

It may be because you failed to completely insert the test strip. Insert the strip completely. Check that the battery is inserted with the +ve side facing up. If none of these work please contact the customer support line on 0800 881 5423 to obtain a replacement battery.

4. I've put in the blood sample, but the meter doesn't work.

Check whether the confirmation window on the strip is full. If it isn't, an “Er4” message will appear. Insert a fresh strip and redo the test to get an accurate result.

5. The test result comes out too high or too low.

If you suspect a reading is too high or too low compared to how you are feeling retest using the meter at a room temperature of 10-40℃ after 30 minutes. Ensure that you take a fresh strip from the bottle (If a strip is out of the bottle for a long time, it might affect to the test result) and that you do not squeeze your finger to get the blood out. 6. What does it mean if the “Lo” icon appears on the screen?

It means that your blood glucose level is lower than 1.11 mmol/L, and you have extreme hypoglycemia. If you get repeated “Lo” results, consult a healthcare professional.

7. What does it mean if the “Hi” icon appears on the screen?

It means that your blood glucose level is higher than 33.3 mmol/L and you have extreme hyperglycemia. If you get repeated “Hi” results, consult a healthcare professional.

8. How long is the battery life?

Approximately 1000 tests

9. What does it mean when my meter displays a battery symbol?

This means that your battery is low and you have the ability to complete only 50 tests on the machine. You should contact our customer support line on 0800 881 5423 to order free replacement batteries.

16. What does it mean when an “Er1” message appears?

You have inserted a strip that has been used already. Insert a fresh strip.

17. What does it mean when an “Er2” message appears?

You applied the blood sample to the strip before the symbol for inserting blood appeared. Repeat the test with a new strip.

18. What does it mean when an “Er3” message appears?

The temperature of the system is not within the recommended range. Take the system someplace where the temperature is within operating range (10~40℃) and repeat the test after 30 minutes.

19. What does it mean when an “Er4” message appears?

The blood sample did not fill the confirmation window of the test strip, during measurement, because of abnormally high viscosity or insufficient volume. Repeat the test with a new test strip and adequate blood sample.
